The Times Literary Supplement recently carried a perceptive and generous short review of How to Read Middle English Poetry by Anthony Bale, who calls the book ‘accessible and welcoming’ and ‘rigorous and instructive’, and notes its ‘hugely useful set of appendices and glossaries’.
